Term and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern all moving, packing, transport, and related services (“Services”) provided by Conneck Transport (“the Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) to the client (“the Client”, “you”). By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, or allowing the Company to commence Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
1. Quotations and Pricing
1.1 All quotations are based on the information provided by the Client, including inventory lists, item descriptions, access details, distances, and/or estimated volume.
1.2 Quotations are estimates only and may change if the actual inventory, volume, access conditions, distance, or services required differ from what was originally disclosed.
1.3 Any additional items, increased volume, or undisclosed services required on moving day will result in additional charges, which must be settled before loading commences.
1.4 Quotations remain valid for a limited period as stated on the quote. Prices may be adjusted if the move date changes, fuel prices increase, toll fees change, or access conditions differ.
2. Deposits and Payment Terms
2.1 To secure a moving date, a 50% deposit is required within three (3) working days of receiving the invoice.
2.2 The remaining 50% balance must be paid before the move or as an immediate payment at collection when the movers arrive at the collection address.
2.3 No items will be offloaded at the delivery address until full and final payment reflects in the Company’s bank account.
2.4 Payments must be made via approved payment methods as stated on the invoice. Proof of payment must be provided when requested.
2.5 Late or non-payment may result in delays, storage at the Client’s cost, or suspension of Services.
3. Insurance and Liability
3.1 The Company provides Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance cover up to R300,000, subject to the insurer’s terms, conditions, and exclusions.
3.2 Insurance cover applies only to items that are:
- Declared on the inventory list;
- Properly packed and handled by the Company (unless otherwise agreed in writing).
3.3 Insurance does not cover:
- Items packed by the Client;
- Pre-existing damage;
- Fragile items not professionally packed;
- Cash, jewellery, valuables, documents, antiques, artworks, collectibles, or items of extraordinary value unless declared and agreed in writing;
- Damage caused by acts of God, accidents beyond the Company’s control, or force majeure events.
3.4 Claims must be reported in writing within 24 hours of delivery, supported by photos and documentation. Late claims may be rejected.
4. Packing, Boxes, and Materials
4.1 If packing services are not pre-booked, all items must be packed and ready before the movers arrive.
4.2 If boxes or additional packing materials are supplied on moving day and were not agreed upon beforehand, additional charges will apply and must be settled immediately.
4.3 Mattresses are wrapped with mattress protectors at no additional cost.
4.4 The Company is not responsible for damage to items packed by the Client.
5. Client Responsibilities
5.1 The Client must ensure:
- Clear and safe access to collection and delivery addresses;
- Furniture is ready for collection;
- Boxes are packed and sealed;
- Appliances are disconnected prior to arrival, unless otherwise agreed.
5.2 The Client is responsible for advising the Company of:
- Staircases, lifts, narrow access, long carry distances, or parking restrictions;
- Body corporate or estate rules and booking requirements;
- Permits, parking bays, or access limitations.
5.3 Additional charges may apply if access is restricted, delayed, or misrepresented.
6. Appliances, Dismantling, Removal of Doors, and Reassembly
6.1 Unless a dismantling or packing service has been booked, items must be ready for loading upon the movers’ arrival.
6.2 Our movers may assist with basic dismantling and reassembly of furniture where reasonably possible. However, the Company shall not be held liable for damages that may occur during dismantling or reassembly of furniture that is structurally weak, previously damaged, self-assembled, chipboard, or not designed for repeated assembly.
6.3 In some cases, doors, gates, or other obstacles may need to be temporarily removed to allow furniture to pass through safely. By accepting the Services, the Client agrees that Conneck Transport will not be held liable for damages that may occur during the removal or refitting of doors, fixtures, or fittings required to facilitate the move.
6.4 Our movers can assist with disconnecting and reconnecting washing machines and dishwashers, however the Company accepts no liability for leaks, plumbing faults, electrical faults, or manufacturer-related issues that may arise.
6.5 The Company is not responsible for complex electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or specialised installations.
7. Delays and Waiting Time
7.1 Delays caused by the Client, building management, access issues, traffic, weather, or circumstances beyond the Company’s control may result in additional waiting time charges.
7.2 The Company will not be liable for consequential losses arising from delays.
8. Cancellation and Postponement
8.1 Cancellations must be made in writing.
8.2 Cancellation fees may apply depending on the notice period provided and costs already incurred.
8.3 Deposits may be partially or fully forfeited if cancellations occur within a short notice period.
9. Storage
9.1 Should a Client require storage of goods, a storage deposit equivalent to half (1/2) a month’s storage fee will be required prior to the goods being placed into storage.
9.2 This deposit is refundable at the end of the storage term, provided that all outstanding storage fees and related charges have been paid in full.
9.3 Storage fees will be invoiced according to the agreed storage arrangement and must be paid on or before the due date stated on the invoice.
9.4 Failure to pay storage fees for more than forty-five (45) days after the invoice due date will result in the Client forfeiting the storage deposit.
9.5 Should payment remain outstanding beyond this period, the Client agrees that Conneck Transport reserves the right to liquidate, auction, or otherwise dispose of the stored goods in order to recover outstanding storage fees, handling costs, and any related expenses.
9.6 Any shortfall remaining after the sale of the goods will remain the responsibility of the Client.
9.7 If items cannot be delivered due to non-payment, access issues, or Client delays, goods may also be placed into storage at the Client’s cost. Storage fees, handling fees, and re-delivery costs will apply.
10. Prohibited and High-Risk Items
10.1 The Company will not transport:
- Illegal items;
- Hazardous materials;
- Explosives, flammable substances, firearms, or ammunition;
- Perishable goods.
10.2 The Client indemnifies the Company against any loss or liability arising from prohibited items being included.
11. Damage, Wear and Tear
11.1 Minor scuffs, scratches, or marks may occur during normal handling and are considered reasonable wear and tear.
11.2 The Company is not responsible for damage to:
- Pressed wood, chipboard, or self-assembled furniture;
- Items already structurally weakened;
- Internal mechanisms of appliances or electronics.
12. Force Majeure

13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 The Company’s liability is strictly limited to the terms of the applicable GIT insurance cover.
13.2 Under no circumstances shall the Company be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
14. Jurisdiction
14.1 These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
15. Acceptance
By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit, or allowing the Company to proceed with the move, the Client confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms and Conditions in full.
Friendly Reminder:
Please have all furniture ready for collection, boxes packed, and appliances disconnected before the movers arrive. This helps avoid any additional charges, unless you have requested a packing or dismantling service in advance.
